Last week, I shared some powerful new tarot readings in the Soul Shift Breathwork Membership vault, including one for Dia de Los Muertos.
For too long, I took my Mexican culture for granted and never gave it much thought. But through conversations with my mother, I learned the deep richness of my indigenous culture.
For example, Day of the Dead is more than just sugar skulls and face-painting, it's a multi-day celebration lasting more than one or two days. My mom used to call it "dia de los difuntos" and always asked me to bring her candles and yellow or orange flowers to adorn her altar filled with photos of the deceased.
Each day is designated to honor a specific group of loved ones. From October 27th through November 2nd, we celebrate and honor our dearly departed pets, those who died in accidental or violent deaths, those who drowned, our forgotten and lonely souls, the unborn children, deceased children. And on the final day, we honor adults who died a natural death.
During this celebration of life, we light the way with candles and "ofrendas" to welcome our dearly departed back home while the veil is thin.
Over the last couple of years, my sisters and I have gathered at her gravesite, healing together, slowly creating our new traditions as we honor and celebrate our mother's life, the legacy she left behind, and our memories.
With every passing year, I grow around the grief, healing layer by layer. While the grief and loss are still very accessible, (I'm tearing up now just tying this) I know that my healing would not have been possible without the ability of tapping into my breath and listening deep within to honor my Soul's desire.
Reader, I know it takes effort to show up and keep living life when you just want the world to slow down around you.
It takes effort to "do the work" not knowing when the "work" will yield the results you're hoping for.
It takes effort to keep your heart open after heartbreak.
It takes effort to peel back the layers.
But, Reader, it's so f*cking worth it. Because on the other side of grief, loss, and disappointment is where you find strength, resiliency, and a renewed sense of self.
I know the never-ending journey of uncovering layers of your soul isn't always rainbows and butterflies, sometimes, it can be hard AF. But it's 100% possible when you have the right tools. Your. Sacred. Flow. Each one of those words is powerful medicine for your creator spirit. While divine timing is working to provide you with a multitude of serendipity, you can also actively schedule your own unique sacred flow into your life, every day. This means tuning into your own rhythm and listening to the needs of your inner creator. It may mean stopping to meditate during the day if that’s what makes your heart sing, or making sure that client calls only happen on Tuesdays… when the moon is full. You are the one who can restructure your timeline and who gets to decide what your own flow looks like. What’s missing in your schedule right now that would make each day a little bit more epic? What makes you feel alive?
Something may be encroaching on your flow time, or messing around with your vibe. You may need to set clear boundaries with someone and prioritize your sacred time. Be sure you aren’t giving up your personal space so that someone else can benefit. (Don’t be a martyr!)
If you are under pressure to make an important decision, right now is not the time to give an answer you aren’t completely sure of. Sleep on it. Surrender to not having the answer today. Go with the flow of not knowing.
